What is a climate action plan?
Cheryl explains that a climate action plan aims to address climate challenges, relevant to the individual setting. Some may choose to create this based on a SMART profile with clear objectives based on the environment, society, governance and financial factors. Whereas others may prefer to approach this by looking at intent, implementation and impact.
Cheryl endorses other formats from experts such as, David Dixon. In his book entitled Leadership for Sustainability, Dixon gives guidance around the ‘Five Cs of Sustainability’ – captaincy, curriculum, campus, community, and connections – to position sustainability as a natural vehicle for developing a type of fully integrated learning ecology and culture. Cheryl explains that this is a fantastic framework to refer to when considering a climate action plan.
